Janitor AI Subscription: Worth $12.99?

pricingjanitor-ai

Yes. Since June 24, 2026, Janitor AI has one optional subscription, janitor+. It costs $12.99 billed monthly or $99 billed yearly, with tax added at checkout. It buys about five times the free tier’s ~9k-token memory, faster replies when the site is busy, enhanced swipes on Janitor’s best models, access to more models and a gold-name badge. The free tier stays free.

The short verdict: worth it if you run long roleplays on Janitor’s own model and your bots keep forgetting earlier events. Skip it if you already run your own model key, or if you mostly chat in short bursts.

Prices last checked October 25, 2026 on janitorai.com/plus. This page is research-based: it uses Janitor’s plan page, announcements, help centre, terms and app listings. We have not subscribed to or tested janitor+.

Key Takeaways

  • janitor+ costs $12.99/month or $99/year ($8.25/month), plus tax
  • It buys memory (5x context), busy-hour speed and better swipes on Janitor’s own model
  • The free tier, with ~9k tokens of context, is not going away
  • Router, Janitor’s access to outside models, is billed per token on top of the subscription
  • Pay for janitor+ if Janitor’s built-in model is your daily driver; skip it if you already use your own API key

How much does the Janitor AI subscription cost?

janitor+ is $12.99 billed monthly or $99.00 billed yearly, which Janitor shows as $8.25 a month and “Save 36%”. Tax is not included. The official iOS app lists the same Janitor+ Monthly ($12.99) and Janitor+ Annual ($99.00) purchases.

A few things the price table doesn’t tell you:

  • The annual plan saves $56.88 a year, but only pays off if you keep janitor+ for eight months or more. $99 is the cost of 7.6 monthly payments.
  • Prices can change. Janitor’s terms (section 8.4) say a new price applies from your next billing cycle after notice.
  • There’s no free trial. None appears on the plan page, the launch announcement or the help centre as of October 25, 2026.

Watch for: review sites still quoting a “$9.99 Pro” plan, a $99.99 yearly price or a three-day trial. None of those appear on Janitor’s own pages.

How has janitor+ changed since launch?

The perks have moved in both directions since June, which is why the date stamp above matters.

Date (2026)Change
June 24janitor+ launches at $12.99/month, Janitor’s first paid product
July 2The official iOS app’s 2.0.1 release notes say “Janitor+ is here”
July 15Short replies (JLLM-short) move from janitor+ only to all users
July 19Redesigned API settings group the janitor+ controls and show remaining enhanced swipes
July 30janitor+ Router launches on web, with $5 in launch credits and 10% off some popular models
August 16Janitor reports some janitor+ generations ran much slower than expected for part of a day, then fixed it
October 8Terms of service updated with detailed Router credit rules (section 8.8)
October 21Router help page lists $1 in launch credits that expire a year after you claim them
By October 25The $99 annual plan is on the plan page and the US App Store. Janitor hasn’t said when it was added

What does janitor+ add over the free plan?

The plan page compares the two tiers directly. Here is what each row means in practice.

FeatureFreejanitor+Notes
Memory~9k context”5x more context”Janitor doesn’t publish an exact token number
Speed when busyStandard”3x faster replies”Janitor’s help centre calls this “priority access for faster replies”
Swipes (rerolls)Standard”Enhanced swipes”A monthly allowance with Janitor’s best models; the number isn’t published, but subscribers can see what’s left in API settings
ModelsStandard chat models”More models”Includes Router access, which costs extra per token
Cosmetics—Gold username, checkmark, comment emojisSubscribers also get a profile customization page in Settings
Short repliesYesYesMoved to everyone on July 15

One wording change is worth knowing. The June launch post promised “unlimited priority messages”. The current plan page’s fine print says “Usage limits apply.” The plan page is the one to go by today.

What does 5x memory mean in practice?

Janitor doesn’t publish janitor+‘s exact context size. By its own numbers, five times the free tier’s ~9k tokens works out to roughly 45k tokens.

Using the common rule of thumb of about 0.75 words per token, that’s an estimate of:

  • Free: the last 6,500 to 7,000 words of a chat
  • janitor+: the last 30,000 to 35,000 words

The character definition, your persona and any custom prompt use up part of that window, so detailed bots benefit most. Janitor’s own guide to tokens as your AI’s memory budget explains how the window fills.

If your bots forget events from earlier in the same story, this is the perk you’d be paying for.

What doesn’t janitor+ change?

  • Content rules. Paying doesn’t limit Janitor’s ability to moderate, filter, restrict or suspend accounts, and moderated use doesn’t earn a refund (terms, section 8.7).
  • The age limit. Both tiers are for adults 18 and over.
  • Router costs. Router isn’t included in the price. It’s billed per token on top of the subscription.
  • Mobile Router access. Router is web only for now, and Janitor says mobile support is “planned”.
  • Unlimited frontier swipes. The enhanced swipe allowance isn’t published, so don’t assume it’s unlimited.
  • Your own API key. Proxy and custom-API connections still exist. See our Janitor AI proxy guide for how they compare.

What is janitor+ Router, and what does it cost?

Router launched on July 30, 2026. It lets subscribers use third-party models inside Janitor without an API key or a proxy. You pay per token, at the rate shown before you chat, from a built-in wallet, and some popular models are 10% off for subscribers. If you’re new to per-token billing, our token pricing explainer covers the basics.

The launch credits have already changed. The July announcement offered $5. The help centre, updated October 21, now lists $1, expiring one year after you claim it.

The fine print is in the terms of service (section 8.8):

  • You need an active janitor+ to buy or use credits. A lapsed subscription doesn’t trigger a refund.
  • Your balance comes back if you resubscribe before the credits expire.
  • Purchased credits may expire 365 days after purchase.
  • All credit purchases are final sale.
  • Credits can be used up even when a reply fails. That includes replies that are cancelled, interrupted, filtered or refused after processing starts.
  • Janitor can change models, providers and Router prices at any time.

Watch for: deleting your account permanently cancels all unused credits without a refund (section 10.1). Cancel the subscription instead if you only want to stop paying.

Is janitor+ cheaper than running your own API key?

For most people, no. Your own key usually costs less, but the gap shrinks as chats get longer.

The reason is how long memory gets billed on your own key: every reply re-sends the whole context as input tokens. janitor+ charges a flat price for longer memory on Janitor’s own model.

The formula is: cost per reply ≈ (context tokens × input rate + reply tokens × output rate) ÷ 1,000,000.

Here’s an illustrative example. It uses DeepSeek’s official Flash rates (checked October 25, 2026), a 45k-token context and a 300-token reply:

ScenarioCost per replyCost per 1,000 replies
Peak hours, no cache hits~$0.0139~$13.86
Off-peak, no cache hits~$0.0069~$6.93
Peak hours, cached input~$0.0006~$0.63
Peak hours, free-tier-sized 9k context~$0.0031~$3.06

At peak rates with no cache hits, about 940 long-context replies cost as much as a month of janitor+. How much of each request hits DeepSeek’s cache depends on how much of the prompt repeats, so treat the cached row as a best case.

Two things the math leaves out. DeepSeek’s model is not the same product as Janitor’s JLLM. And your own key means setup time, a prepaid balance and another company’s data terms. Our DeepSeek on Janitor AI guide covers the setup and current rates.

Is the Janitor AI subscription worth it?

For daily roleplayers on Janitor’s own model, yes. janitor+ is the cheapest way to get much longer memory without managing an API key. For casual users and anyone already running DeepSeek or another key, no: the free tier now includes short replies, and your own key usually costs less.

Pay for janitor+ if:

  • You roleplay most days on JLLM, Janitor’s built-in model
  • Your bots forget earlier events in long stories
  • Busy-hour lag regularly breaks your sessions

Stay on the free plan if:

  • You chat casually or in short sessions
  • You already use your own DeepSeek or OpenRouter key
  • You mostly want short replies, which are now free

Go annual only if: you’re confident you’ll keep janitor+ for eight months or more. Try a month first.

How do you buy janitor+ safely?

Janitor documents two official ways to pay:

  • On the web: janitorai.com/plus, paid through Stripe.
  • In the official app: on iOS that’s “Janitor: Interactive Stories” by JanitorAI, INC, rated 18+. Check that developer name before you pay.

Lookalike apps have appeared in the App Store under Janitor-style names, from different developers. They sell their own weekly and annual plans, and those plans have nothing to do with janitor+.

Resold accounts are also out there: marketplaces selling “janitor+ months” show up in search results. Janitor’s terms say Router credits can’t be transferred, and the company can terminate accounts for payment abuse.

Unfamiliar names on your statement: Janitor’s terms and privacy policy name a Cyprus affiliate, Dulova Investments Limited, among the companies authorized to charge you. Check for that name before disputing a charge.

Watch for: older articles saying “Janitor has no subscription, so anyone selling one is a scam”. That has been out of date since June 24, 2026. The real risk now is unofficial sellers.

How do you cancel janitor+, and can you get a refund?

  1. On the web: go to Settings → Billing → Manage Subscription. That opens Stripe’s billing page, where you can cancel. You can also email billing@janitorai.com.
  2. On iOS or Android: cancel through your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Janitor says app subscriptions can’t be cancelled from the web.
  3. After you cancel: janitor+ stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then your account moves back to the free tier.

Subscriptions are generally non-refundable, and cancelling doesn’t refund the rest of the period you’ve paid for. The terms make three exceptions:

  • refunds the law requires (section 9.2);
  • a paid feature Janitor agrees is defective (section 9.3);
  • a pro-rata refund if Janitor discontinues the subscription, or ends it for reasons other than your breach (section 9.4).

If you bought through Apple or Google, their refund rules apply. Router credits are final sale.

Before you reach for a chargeback, email billing first. The terms say a reversed payment can remove credits and lead Janitor to restrict your access. For the steps across other apps, see our guide to cancelling and getting refunds from companion apps.

What changes for privacy when you pay?

  • Card details: Stripe handles payments, and Janitor says it doesn’t see or store your card information.
  • Payment records: Janitor keeps records such as amounts, dates and subscription status for legal and accounting reasons.
  • Your chats: on both tiers, Janitor’s privacy policy (September 17, 2026) treats chat conversations as user content. One of the listed uses is research and development “to improve our AI systems”.
  • Router: replies come from third-party model providers, so they process your chat context. Neither the Router help page nor the privacy policy says how those providers keep or use it.

Keep identifying details out of your chats. To delete your account, go to Settings → Security → Delete Account. Since August 13, deletion starts a 30-day countdown, and you can sign back in to restore the account before it ends. Our guides to what companion apps can see and how to delete your data cover the rest.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Janitor AI subscription cost?

janitor+ costs $12.99 billed monthly or $99 billed yearly (about $8.25 a month) at janitorai.com/plus, with tax added at checkout. The US App Store lists the same two prices. Janitor's terms allow price changes, which apply from your next billing cycle after notice.

Is Janitor AI still free without janitor+?

Yes. The free tier keeps unlimited chats on Janitor's standard models with roughly 9k tokens of context, and Janitor's help centre says a free option will always remain. Short replies, once a janitor+ perk, moved to all users on July 15, 2026.

Is Router included in janitor+?

No. You need janitor+ to use Router, but Router is billed separately, per token, from a prepaid wallet. Janitor's help centre currently lists $1 in launch credits for subscribers, down from the $5 announced in July, and they expire a year after you claim them. Router is web only for now.

Is there a janitor+ free trial?

Not on any official Janitor page we checked on October 25, 2026. The plan page, launch announcement and help centre list no trial. Claims of a three-day trial or a $9.99 Pro plan on some review sites do not match what Janitor publishes.

Can I get a refund for janitor+?

Usually not. Janitor's terms say subscriptions are generally non-refundable and cancelling gives no partial refund for the rest of the period, unless the law requires one or Janitor discontinues the service. App store purchases follow Apple or Google refund rules, and Router credits are final sale.

Does janitor+ change Janitor AI's content rules?

No. Janitor's terms say paying for janitor+ or Router credits does not limit its ability to moderate, filter, restrict or suspend accounts, and moderated use does not earn a refund. Both the free tier and janitor+ are for adults 18 and over only.
