Is Janitor AI Down? Status Checks and Fixes (2026)

janitor-aitroubleshootingstatus

Janitor AI is probably down if three things line up: status.janitorai.com shows a problem, Janitor’s changelog posts an incident, and both the website and the app fail for you on two different networks. If only your proxy chats fail while Janitor’s own model works, the problem is your API key, provider or proxy URL, not Janitor.

This page is a dated checklist, not live monitoring. When we checked on October 25, 2026, Janitor’s official status page tracked two components, Backend and Frontend. Both were marked operational, with 45-day uptime of 99.962% and 99.987%.

A green status page doesn’t prove every model is healthy, though. Janitor’s own changelog shows that many 2026 incidents hit one model or one feature while the site stayed up.

Key Takeaways

  • Check status.janitorai.com and the changelog first, the two official sources
  • Many Janitor incidents are partial: JLLM errors, search, moderation or janitor+ speed
  • If JLLM works but your proxy doesn’t, the fault is with the key, balance, model ID or provider
  • Don’t delete your account or paste your API key into “fix” sites
  • Support is reachable by live chat or support@janitorai.com

What is the quick Janitor AI status check?

Work through these in order before changing any settings:

  1. Open status.janitorai.com. It’s the page Janitor’s help centre points to when you’re unsure whether the site is down.
  2. Read the latest changelog posts. Janitor writes short incident notes there, such as “jllm was having a bunch of errors earlier today”.
  3. Try the website and the app. If one works and the other doesn’t, it’s probably not a full outage.
  4. Switch networks, for example from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
  5. Test JLLM without your proxy. Start a new chat on Janitor’s own model. If that works, the problem is your proxy route.
  6. Check whether every bot fails or only one. A single broken chat is usually a chat or bot problem.

What kinds of Janitor AI outages happened in 2026?

Janitor’s changelog lists the incidents below. Most were partial, which is why “is Janitor down?” usually depends on which part of Janitor you use.

Date (2026)What Janitor reported
May 1JLLM down for about 15 minutes after “a bad deploy on our end”
May 9A dead GPU host caused failed and slow generations for some users
June 10”Investigating some errors with proxy users”
July 31Downtime across core services
August 7–8JLLM’s error rate rose from about 0.3% to around 8% for roughly 12 hours, affecting normal and short replies
August 11The moderation pipeline was down
August 16Some janitor+ generations were much slower than expected; fixed the same day
August 20A memory bug hid saved memories on about 15,000 chats; Janitor restored them
September 11Search was slower than usual under heavy load
September 12The site was “very unstable”, with slow loading, errors and interruptions
October 2A CDN hiccup made buttons throw errors and images fail to load

Which safe fixes should you try, in order?

  1. Hard refresh, or close the tab and open a fresh one. That’s Janitor’s own advice for the October 2 CDN issue.
  2. Try the other surface, website or app.
  3. Switch networks to rule out a local connection problem.
  4. If you use a proxy, run the connection test in API settings, check your provider’s balance and status page, and re-paste the URL and key. Our Janitor AI proxy guide has an error-code table, and the DeepSeek setup guide covers DeepSeek-specific setup errors.
  5. Check whether one bot or one chat is the problem by starting a fresh chat with a different bot.
  6. If memories look wrong, open the chat memory panel. Janitor added a “memory replaces old messages” toggle in August, and it’s off by default.
  7. Contact support if none of that helps (see below).

What should you not do while Janitor AI is down?

  • Don’t paste your API key into “fix” sites or private messages. Nobody legitimate needs it to restore Janitor.
  • Don’t delete your account to reset things. Since August 13, 2026, deletion starts a 30-day countdown. Janitor’s terms also cancel unused Router credits when you delete.
  • Don’t buy janitor+ to escape an outage. Paid capacity has had its own incidents, including the August 16 slowdown.
  • Don’t keep regenerating on a paid route during errors. Janitor’s terms say Router credits can be used up even when a reply is cancelled or fails after processing begins. Your own provider may bill failed requests too.

When should you contact Janitor support?

Contact support if the status page is green, the changelog is quiet, and the problem survives a refresh, another device and another network. Janitor’s help centre offers live chat and email at support@janitorai.com. For subscription or payment problems, email billing@janitorai.com.

Include the time, your device, browser or app version, whether you use JLLM or a proxy, and the exact error text. That makes the request much easier to act on than “it’s broken”.

What if Janitor AI keeps failing for you?

If outages keep breaking your sessions, it may be time to try another app. Our guide to Janitor AI alternatives compares hosted options that need no API setup.

If speed during busy hours is the issue, our Janitor AI subscription guide explains what janitor+ priority does and doesn’t change. For the product overall, see the Janitor AI review. If you also use Character.AI, there’s a matching Character AI status checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Is Janitor AI down right now?

Check status.janitorai.com, Janitor's official status page, and the latest changelog posts. When we checked on October 25, 2026, both monitored components, Backend and Frontend, were operational. If the status page is green but chats fail, test JLLM without your proxy before assuming an outage.

Why does Janitor AI only fail when I use a proxy?

If JLLM works but your proxy chats fail, the problem is usually on the provider side: a wrong key or URL, an empty balance, a retired model ID or a rate limit. Match the error code against your provider's documentation and check its status page.

Does Janitor AI have a status page?

Yes. Janitor's help centre points users to status.janitorai.com, which tracks a Backend and a Frontend component and shows recent uptime. Janitor also posts incident notes, such as JLLM error spikes and slowdowns, in its changelog.

Is JLLM down or is it the whole site?

Janitor's 2026 incidents were often partial. In early August, JLLM's error rate rose from about 0.3% to around 8% for roughly 12 hours while the site stayed up. If pages load but replies fail, look for a model-specific notice in the changelog.

Should I delete my account or reinstall to fix Janitor?

No. Deleting your account will not fix an outage. Since August 13, 2026, deletion starts a 30-day countdown, and Janitor's terms cancel unused Router credits when you delete. Try a hard refresh, another device or network, and support first.
